The first African-American graduate from Bellarmine College Preparatory graduated before:
 


The first African-American, Dr. Ralph Bunche, won the 1950 Nobel Peace Prize.

 
Chuck Cooper, Nathaniel Clifton and Earl Lloyd broke the barriers into the NBA in1950.


Ralph Ellison published the novel Invisible Man, which won the National Book Award in
1952.


The 1954 Brown vs The Board of Education court  case. 


The Desegregation of  the U.S. Armed  Forces in 1954.


Rosa Parks refused to give  up her seat on a bus, which started the 1955 Montgomery Bus  Boycott.
